Catch up-and-coming British South Asian dancer Aakash Odedra’s latest show Rising at Parabola Arts Centre, with choreography from big names in the world of dance.

A rising star in British South Asian dance, Aakash Odedra, is set to perform his latest show which is aptly-named Rising, at Parabola Arts Centre, promising the dance equivalent of a red-carpet event for local dance lovers.

On Friday 28 September 2012, the contemporary dancer will be hoping to impress a Cheltenham audience with three solos, which have been choreographed especially for him by dance heavyweights Russel Maliphant, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Akra Khan.

Organisers said: ‘Aakash will also present a contemporary Kathak solo choreographed by himself as he explores a new personal language. The piece incorporates video projection and stunning lighting design by Michael Hulls.’

Odedra has a background in classical Indian dance forms, including Kathak and Bharatanatyam, and has received critical acclaim for his ability to adapt them into a new flavour of contemporary dance.

Whether you’re itching for inspiration for your next dance piece, or looking for a show with a cultural twist, don’t miss the chance to see this up-and-coming dancer right on your doorstep.
