Visitors who headed to Hillside Brewery’s Tap Room Open Night on Saturday 23 September 2017 were wowed by a creation from professional cake baking company, The BakeKing.

The multi award-winning cake artist presented a show-stopping number for the occasion, with its working barrel cake encompassing a working beer tap that dispensed drinks.

Functioning as a real barrel, The BakeKing’s creation was designed to be delicious as well as useful, doubling up as a chocolate cake which no doubt was a hit with guests.

Hillside Brewery presented the barrel cake at its monthly brewery tap event which featured themed food, table tennis and table football, giant games, and a retro Sega Mega Drive, along with Hillside’s impressive range of beers and a fully stocked bar.

Founded in 2014 as the brainchild of Ben Cullen, The BakeKing began when the trained tattoo artist and graphic designer began creating cake art for family and friends before business boomed into creating huge masterpieces with intricate detail.
