The dinosaurs exhibitions is great. My youngest and I are big fans of the series so it was nice to see the models up close...

Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll in Gloucester

Event ended

Skipped over at many a multiplex, Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll will see Ian Dury reincarnated on Gloucester Guildhall’s big screen.

Andy Serkis gives an outstanding performance in Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll.
Andy Serkis gives an outstanding performance in Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll.

The British biopic Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll sees a brilliant Andy Serkis take to Gloucester Guildhall’s screen as Ian Dury – the singer and lyricist, founding father of the 1970s New Wave scene and famously flamboyant frontman of The Blockheads.

Rated 15, and directed by Mat Whitecross, the film not only explores Dury’s showmanship, writing talents and rise to fame, but also his clash with his father (played by Ray Winstone), polio survival, and struggle with disability.

Having spent three years studying Dury’s vocal and physical mannerisms, the BAFTA-nominated performance given by Serkis is nothing short of mesmerising, according to organisers.
