Welcome at the Lido
A warm greeting awaits when a screening of the uplifting Welcome takes place outdoors at the very apt Sandford Parks Lido in Cheltenham.
On Saturday 3 September 2011 Cheltenham Film Society will be making a splash with its outdoor cinema screening of the French flick Welcome.
Being held at Sandford Parks Lido, according to organisers the 2009 film sees Kurdish boy Bilal set off on an adventure-filled journey across Europe in an attempt to get to visit his love in England.
While the 17-year-old reaches Calais, the touching film questions how you can cover 32 kilometers of the English Channel, when you can’t swim… with unexpected results.
Described as an immigrant drama with wonderful performances by the actors and a strong storyline, this special screening of Welcome is suitable for film enthusiasts and those with a love of the great outdoors.
Sandford Parks Lido makes for a unique and extremely apt venue that will see the audience tuck into picnics from 7.30pm, before sitting back and relaxing on a variety of blankets and deck chairs for the alfresco feature presentation under a starry sky.
