Milestone for Wotton Electric Picture House
News – More than 100,000 film fans have enjoyed big screen flicks at the Wotton Electric Picture House cinema.
While Wotton-under-Edge’s residents would already testify to the huge success of Wotton Electric Picture House, the community cinema has proven its popularity by welcoming its 100,000th visitor to its refurbished aisles.
On Friday 28 October 2011, to the surprise of both the lucky customer and the rest of the cinema audience, the 100,000th ticket holder, Anne Cross, was announced before the screening of Jane Eyre.
As well as being presented with two free tickets, the town resident was presented with a bottle of champagne and a box of chocolates to mark the milestone.
Ran almost entirely by volunteers, and re-opened as a charity in 2005 following a major refurbishment, Wotton Electric Picture House enjoys cutting edge digital facilities and an extensive weekly programme of screenings – no doubt attracting another 100,000 film fans to its box office in the forthcoming years.
