A breath of fresh air has been brought to Barnsley House, in the form of its new-look restaurant The Potager, which will be welcoming diners from across Gloucestershire, this spring.
The major refurbishment of The Potager has seen the 60-seater restaurant totally revamped to make the most of its unique setting in Rosemary Verey’s internationally-acclaimed gardens, and completes a programme of renovation which began at the country hotel near Cirencester almost two years ago.
Organisers say: ‘The cosier interior sees the use of natural textures and earthy tones to create a visual link with the outdoors,’ with new wooden-topped tables and pots of growing herbs also bringing elements of the garden indoors.
Produce from Barnsley House’s gardens also make a daily appearance at The Potager, with a new Monday to Saturday set lunch priced at £21 per person for two courses featuring just-picked vegetables exclusively. While the traditional Sunday roast is priced at £23.50 for two courses and £27.50 for three courses.
There is also a reinvigorated a la carte menu including options such as a salad of roasted beetroot, carrot and squash with spiced cashews or linguine with braised wild rabbit, for example.
The Potager’s popular signature dish of vincisgrassi, an adaptation of an 18th century recipe of baked pasta with Parma ham, porcini and truffles, will also be on the menu, not to mention seasonal game such as Ozleworth Park pheasant and Badminton Estate venison too.
Plus, to mark the re-launch of The Potager, the new lunch menu is accompanied by the opportunity to buy a selection of three white and three red Premier Cru Louis Jadot wines by the glass for £6, until Saturday 31 March 2012.
