Café Rene launches new menus

Café Rene adds a whole host of vegetarian and healthier options to its lunch and dinner menus, hoping to tempt the diners of Gloucestershire this summer.

The ever-popular Café Rene, located amongst the hustle and bustle of Gloucester city centre and famed for its sizzling steaks and Desperate Dan burgers, will be hoping to entice even more local foodies with the recent launch of its new, extended menus.

The lunchtime menu, served daily from 12pm to 6pm, still features all the favourites; from its trio of award-winning sausages served with wholegrain mustard mash, red onion gravy and peas, to the spicy homemade Caribbean curried lamb with gungo pea rice, poppadom, chutney and raita; steaming, fluffy jacket potatoes and of course the wide range of sandwiches and wraps.

But the chefs have obviously been keeping themselves busy in the kitchen, and come up with some summer-inspired vegetarian and healthier options, including fresh egg tagliatelle with a tomato, cream cheese and basil sauce; a trio of roasted peppers stuffed with savoury rice, mushrooms and mixed veg; and a three-bean and pepper salad in a mint vinaigrette served with hummus and pitta – all enough to tempt even the most hardened meat eaters among us.

What’s more, these vegetarian delights will also feature on the evening menu, which is served daily from 6pm to 10pm, in addition to a baby gem, chicory and curly endive Caesar salad served with olives, anchovies, croutons, parmesan shavings, drizzled with dressing; an even healthier Greek salad with all the trimmings, and more.

If you’re watching the waistline or looking for delicious meat-free alternatives for lunch and dinner, try Café Rene’s new menu now and see what all the fuss is about for yourself.

Or go ahead and order that chargrilled steak you’ve been thinking about all day – and don’t forget to end with a devilish dessert.
