Charingworth Manor serves 700 afternoon teas in one month

Cotswold hotel Charingworth Manor served a record 700 afternoon teas in one month, thanks to the 2012 buzz about Britain.

The idyllic Charingworth Manor, nestled in the heart of the Cotswolds, has seen a record rise in the popularity of its afternoon teas, serving no less than 700 in one month and proving that although Jubilee and Olympic fever has died down, true British traditions are still thriving in the aftermath.

Proud to offer ‘not just your everyday cuppa’, Charingworth Manor served an average of 23 afternoon teas per day in August, from the traditional cream tea with homemade scones, jam and cream, to champagne teas, and even the Diamond Jubilee tea, which included a specially created jelly.

The 700-year-old manor house hotel, which enjoys a reputation of serving traditional, mouth-watering British fare using the finest, locally-sourced ingredients, also reported a significant increase in tourism this year, which management believe is down to the increase in visitors to the Cotswolds in general thanks to the British buzz of 2012.

Director of marketing and associates, Richard Smith, said: ‘I think there has been a feel good factor across Britain this summer and for some hotels and restaurants that has meant an increase in business.

‘We have benefited not only because of the quality of our teas, but also because of our location, with our lawns overlooking the 55 acres of grounds and the Cotswolds countryside beyond.’
