Cheltenham’s long-standing eatery, The Brook Takeaway, has rebranded as The Gold Cup Chippy, revamping its menu and undergoing a transformation in what it can offer customers.
Situated on Windyridge Road in Wyman’s Brook, its new name pays homage to the town’s racing heritage, with its varied choice of food aimed at appealing to a range of palates.
Locals can look forward to a revamped menu, with new additions including battered monkfish tails, salt and pepper squid, and kalamari, while new owner and time-served chef Matt Matheou will also be bringing his catering skills to the eatery, with his signature fish pies.
‘I thought this would be a great idea after it was recommended by a customer. I make and then freeze the fish pies for my customers to take home to heat in the oven,’ said Matt.
Business lunches and evening orders are catered for, and there will also be a host of lunchtime deals, such as chicken and donner kebabs, and wraps, at the value price of £2.75. Other highlights include a dedicated children’s menu available for £2.89, including a packet of Haribo sweets; and a special deal on Monday and Tuesdays between 5pm and 7pm, offering half price cod and chips until Tuesday 14 February 2017.
Those wanting to whip up a fish supper at home can stock up on the selection of fresh fish, such as John Dory, brill and turbot while stocks last, with customers advised to place their orders well in advance.
Speaking of the exciting developments, owner Matt said: ‘I am excited about our rebrand, especially in the introduction of the new menu, as well as being able to provide fresh fish on order, straight from the sea.
‘I will be offering a monthly box delivery scheme in and around Cheltenham as well and it really excites me that I can provide this service, making fresh sea caught fish available to all.’
With a recent inspection receiving a five-star food hygiene rating, new opening hours and home to a large car park, customers can expect a friendly, fresh and delicious service from the updated and improved Cheltenham business, which is open from Monday to Saturday.
