Stuart Holmes iPhone app is a cut above

News - Cheltenham hairdressing salon Stuart Holmes is enjoying the success of its innovative new iPhone application, as users hit the 220,000 mark.

Cheltenham’s head hairdressing honcho Stuart Holmes is unsurprisingly thrilled with the worldwide success of his free Hair Pod iPhone application, having been launched just two months ago and said to have notched up 220,000 users to date.

The bespoke application helps users to find a new look by matching an uploaded image of themselves with multiple hairstyles. They are able to browse hundred of colours and cuts in order to decide what might suit them.

The application also allows users to email their experiments to friends and family, and upload them onto Facebook, so a second opinion is only moments away.

The salon described the application as the first of its kind to be launched by anyone in the British hair industry, making it an extra-exciting enterprise.

While Holmes himself commented: ‘We have been absolutely blown away by the positive response we have had following the launch of the Hair Pod. It has really taken off globally and is providing a fun and unique platform for people to trial new hairstyles before taking the plunge’.

He continued: ‘By developing this iPhone application, we are giving people the chance to play around and find a look which makes them feel great. Unlike any other software on the market, the Hair Pod gives a thoroughly realistic image of what any new hairstyle would look like.’

The salon in Cheltenham has been established since 2003, while Holmes has enjoyed a very successful career as a celebrity hair stylist, working in London for many years with stars bound for the Oscars, BAFTAs and Brit awards, as well as on music videos and editorial shoots.
