Release and unwind the muscles that surround the hips and pelvis, and start to feel more flexible in the lower back and legs, at this unique class in Cheltenham.

If you’ve got tight, tense muscles or a feeling of stiffness in your hip joints and lower back, local stretching expert David Rawlings could have just the answer thanks to his Cheltenham class entitled Hips in Motion.

Next taking place at The Isbourne Holistic Centre on Sunday 4 November and then Sunday 2 December 2012, the class aims to help participants stretch and lengthen shortened muscles, to open the hip joints and create more movement – which may help to reduce and release aches and pains too.

Hip mobility plays an important role in everyday activities such as walking and sitting, and especially in more dynamic activities such as running, as well as in other sports and vigorous activities.

Maintaining hip mobility, flexibility and strength can be achieved through specific exercises that target the muscles surrounding the hip and take the joint through a full range-of-motion, according to expert instructor David Rawlings, and hips play an important role in maintaining proper alignment and body mechanics.

‘Easy, well-co-ordinated movement that looks smooth and athletic can help take years off your perceived body age, and the good news is that for many people it is possible and relatively simple to achieve,’ David commented.

Everything from long commutes and too much time sitting in front of the computer, to spending all day on your feet, repetitive movements or intense exercise and sports training, can contribute to stiffness and lack of movement in the muscles that this unique class will be focusing on.

Open to all ages and abilities, participants will be guided through a series of active movements, to mobilise, stretch and energise the muscles around the hip joints and pelvis.

If you want to improve overall health and wellbeing, this class is all about taking positive action for the short and long term health of your body. ‘Stretching tight muscles and developing stamina and muscle tone in the hips and legs could make a big difference to whole body movement, your posture and may help reduce the risk of injury, as well as aid recovery,’ David added.
