I looked around all the clubs in the county before finally deciding on joining Virgin Active in Barnwood. It's by far the best value for money, just under £40 a month, which was the same as pretty much all the other ones, but this place is head and shoulders above them.

Loads of different classes, all inclusive, tons of machines and I've never had to wait to get on a bit of kit. Power Plates have just arrived which are amazing and free to use. I was unsure of how to use it, so one of the gym staff spent 25 minutes with me to show me how it works and what the best settings for me would be. The staff here couldn't be better - always helpful and friendly. 19 December 2007
