Classic Clapton’s 2006 appearance at The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury went down a storm, and this month the Eric Clapton tribute band are expected to pull in fans from across Gloucestershire.
Claiming to be ‘The world’s number one Eric Clapton tribute band’, audiences are promised almost two hours of classic tracks from Clapton clone Mike Hall, featuring the likes of ‘Wonderful Tonight’, ‘Tears in Heaven’, ‘Crossroads’, ‘I Shot the Sheriff’, ‘Lay Down Sally’, ‘Cocaine’ and, of course, ‘Layla’. Fans of the Grammy Award-winning rock guitarist will also be treated to a special unplugged segment courtesy of the tribute band, giving audiences an authentic taste of Eric Clapton.
Classic Clapton formed in 1985 in Newcastle upon Tyne, quickly establishing a reputation for being able to recreate Clapton’s electrifying on-stage presence and catching the audiences’ attention. And the band’s front man Mike Hall not only looks like Eric Clapton, but sings and plays guitar like him too – having received the seal of approval from the man himself in 1999.
The tribute band also gained national recognition after being the feature of a 2000 television programme entitled Cover Their Tracks, and since embarking on a UK tour in 2001 have performed at The Royal Festival Hall, Glastonbury Festival and at a host of venues across Europe.
With 22 years experience under their belt, Classic Clapton’s Tewkesbury appearance is a must for rock fans everywhere.
