The dinosaurs exhibitions is great. My youngest and I are big fans of the series so it was nice to see the models up close...

The Ukulele Orchestra in Cheltenham

Event ended

There is another chance to catch The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain in Gloucestershire, when the talented musicians give another concert at the Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham this September.

Catch the 'Ukes' in toe-tapping action once more at the Bacon Theatre.

With a trail of sell-out dates scattered behind them, catch the cult Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain on your doorstep, when they play at the Bacon Theatre in Cheltenham this September.

Since humble beginnings in 1985, the ‘Ukes’ have garnered what can only be described as a cult following – thanks no doubt to appearances on Jools Holland’s Hootennany, the South Bank Show and even Blue Peter – and with packed dates at Glastonbury, Ronnie Scott’s and The Edinburgh Festival behind them Gloucestershire fans can now get another chance for a slice of the action.

Returning to Cheltenham’s Bacon Theatre on Friday 25 September 2009, the group of all-singing, all-strumming Ukulele players will be giving a virtuosic and foot-stomping concert which promises to include post-punk performances and toe-tapping oldies.

Using an orchestra of little, big, high and low ukuleles, expect to hear everything from Tchaikovsky to Nirvana via Otis Reading, for a evening of laughs, light entertainment and a lot of twanging. Organisers say: ‘Featuring only the bonsai guitar and a menagerie of voices; with no drums, no pianos, no backing tracks, and no banjos… you may never think about music in the same way once you’ve been exposed to the Ukes’ depraved musicology.’
