Gloucester Guildhall’s 20th Birthday Bash

29 March – To celebrate their 20th Birthday Bash, Gloucester Guildhall are hosting a huge party this weekend including live music late into Saturday night from the 13-strong band the Soul Destroyers, ukulele group the RinkyDinks, and a number of DJ sets guaranteed to get you on the dance floor.

The Soul Destroyers will make sure Gloucester Guildhall’s 20th Birthday Bash gets into the swing of things.
The Soul Destroyers will make sure Gloucester Guildhall’s 20th Birthday Bash gets into the swing of things.

As a vibrant city centre venue, Gloucester Guildhall has played host to an eclectic array of arts and entertainment from across Gloucestershire and beyond for 20 years now, and what better way is there to celebrate this momentous anniversary than with a great big Birthday Bash on Saturday 29 March 2008.

Headlining the celebration is what organisers describe as ‘quite simply the South West’s most entertaining party band’, the Soul Destroyers. The band, comprised of 13 singers and musicians from Bristol, will be playing an animated set of soul, pop, Motown, rock and disco – with energetic renditions seamlessly spanning classics from Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Tom Jones, James Brown, Otis Redding, Robbie Williams, The Temptations and even The Spice Girls. With a number of sell-out shows at The Guildhall under their belts, make sure you wear you party shoes as you won’t be sitting down once the Soul Destroyers take to the stage.

Special guests the RinkyDinks will be getting the birthday revellers warmed-up with their ridiculously popular five-piece live ukulele set – with sing-along tunes spanning an unlikely combination of Kylie and Nirvana. A number of DJs will be behind the decks to continue the party atmosphere well into the night, and with the bar staying open until 12 midnight, there will be plenty of time to raise a glass to Gloucester Guildhall’s future success.

We, at SoGlos.com, can’t wait to see what the next two decades holds for the city’s liveliest venue and wish Gloucester Guildhall many happy returns – they’ve certainly earned their Birthday Bash!
