The crowd is always good to and there's a lively atmosphere. My only recommendation is to arrive early. Oh, and I took a first date to one night...

Best known for being a 1980s synth pop icon, this Saturday 26 April pop icon Howard Jones will be playing his first acoustic gig in Cheltenham to what is expected to be a packed Cheltenham Town Hall.

The intimate performance will see Howard Jones on piano and vocals, while the talented Robin Boult on acoustic guitar will be helping to recreate many of Jones’ hits, interspersed with what organisers promise will be humorous anecdotes from his 25 year career.

In the 1980s and early 1990s Jones was a major recording artist in the UK and throughout Europe, also finding fame in Japan, Australia and the US with a string of hits including ‘What Is Love’, ‘New Song’, ‘Pearl In The Shell’, ‘Like To Get To Know You Well’ and ‘Hide And Seek’ – which he performed at the famous 1985 London Live Aid concert.

More than 20 years on and the talented performer has continued to write and produce music, having recently worked with artists including Ringo Starr, Ferry Corsten, Eric Prydz, The Sugababes and Sandie Shaw. His claims to fame also include being the only artist to debut at number one in the worldwide podcast download chart, with more than 750,000 downloads of the track ‘Building Our Own Future’.

Audiences at Howard Jones’ Cheltenham Town Hall gig can expect a seasoned set including old and new work from this veteran artist, with more than a few tracks you’re likely to know the words to.
