The Ukulele Orchestra in Tewkesbury

24 May – Firm favourites in Gloucestershire, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain will be taking to The Roses Theatre in Tewkesbury this May, for an anticipated sell-out concert.

It seems that Gloucestershire crowds simply can't get enough of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, who will be playing in Tewkesbury next.

Organisers say ‘If the ukulele conjures up visions of George Formby, prepare for a rapid rethink,’ and we couldn’t agree more. With sell-out dates becoming a regular occurrence for ‘The Ukes’, if you want to be in the audience for the band’s May concert at The Roses Theatre, you’d better be quick.

Since humble beginnings in 1985, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain have garnered a cult following – thanks to appearances on Jools Holland’s Hootennany, The South Bank Show and even Blue Peter – and with packed dates at Glastonbury, Ronnie Scott’s and The Edinburgh Festival all now behind them Gloucestershire fans will once again be able to get their ukulele fix this summer.

The group of all-singing, all-strumming Ukulele players will be giving a foot-stomping concert in Tewkesbury on Saturday 24 May 2008, with a line-up that promises to include post-punk performances and toe-tapping oldies. Audiences at The Roses can expect to hear everything from Tchaikovsky to Nirvana via Otis Reading during the evening concert, with twanging and tittering going hand-in-hand.
