Ola Onabule in Cheltenham
9 May – If sensational singer Ola Onabule is good enough for the Beckham’s wedding then he is certainly expected to pull in Cheltenham crowds at Bacon Theatre this May.
The Bacon Theatre is starting its summer line-up of music events with a live performance from Ola Onabule this Friday, 9 May 2008. Returning to the Cheltenham theatre for another night of highly anticipated energy and passion, Ola Onabule will be singing tracks from his latest album The Devoured Man, and organisers say seeing really is believing when it comes to this dynamic performer.
Nigerian in origin, Ola’s music is influenced by the soul, jazz and funk music of his childhood incorporating intelligent lyrics with beautiful melodies, and his remarkable voice is described as achingly beautiful with a versatility that will have an audience up on its feet and grooving in no time at all.
With an impressive CV spanning working with artists including Roberta Flack, Natalie Cole, Gladys Knight, Courtenay Pine and Patti LaBelle, Ola has also been commissioned to write arias for the Royal Opera House and has performed on film and television, including the film Second Hand Lions, featuring Robert Duvall and Michael Caine.
Ola was also the sole performer at the wedding of Victoria and David Beckham – a rare example of taste, some might say! Shimmy on down to the Bacon Theatre to catch this unique performer supported by a five piece band in Cheltenham while you can.
Event: Ola Onabule live
Venue: Bacon Theatre
Date: Friday 9 May 2008
Times: From 7.30pm
Tickets: Cost £14, or £12 for concessions, available from the Bacon Theatre box office on (01242) 258002.
