Hailed by organisers as ‘one of the greatest ever female performers,’ legions of Gloucestershire fans will need little convincing to book their tickets to see Melanie at Stroud Subscription Rooms this summer.

Performing live on Thursday 22 May 2008, festival favourite Melanie Safka made her name after a legendary performance at Woodstock before wowing the crowds at Glastonbury.

With guitar in hand and a talent that combines amazing vocal array, disarming humour and a vibrant personality, she was the first solo rock artist to appear at Carnegie Hall, and the Metropolitan and Sydney Opera Houses.

Since the 60s she has recorded 27 albums, selling a staggering 80 million records worldwide, as well as winning an Emmy and writing a hit musical. Her songs have been covered by artists as diverse as Cher, Dolly Parton and Macy Gray, and now fans in Stroud have a very rare chance to see her perform live in the county.
