Folk fans are set for a musical feast at Gloucester Guildhall this autumn, when a formidable double act in the form of Kathryn Williams and Neill MacColl are set to take to the stage.

The acoustic gig will feature Mercury Music prize nominee Kathryn Williams as well as top session musician and film composer, Neill MacColl – whose father was Ewan MacColl and his sister was the much-missed Kirsty – to perform songs from their album Two.

Kathryn and Neill met at a Daughters of Albion concert where they had been paired to perform ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’, a song which Neill’s father wrote for his mother Peggy Seeger. ‘We just clicked,’ Kathryn says, ‘and within a few hours of first saying hello to each other, we were saying let’s get together and make a record’.

The result of this soft, melodic and charming debut album has been hailed a success, complete with gentle and beguiling tracks that will be a treat to hear live when the duo take to the Guildhall’s stage.
