McFly at Westonbirt Arboretum
19 June – McFly will be playing a summer music concert at the stunning Westonbirt Arboretum in June 2009, as part of the highly anticipated Forest Tours series of shows.
McFly will be playing a Gloucestershire concert in the summer of 2009, when the four popular pop rockers play the Forestry Commission’s Westonbirt Arboretum on Friday 19 June 2009.
With little need for introduction, fans will know that the year 2008 saw McFly release their latest album Radio:ACTIVE, which includes the singles, ‘Lies’ and ‘One For The Radio’, as well as the double A-side, and official BBC Children in Need single ‘Do Ya / Stay With Me’.
It is less than five years since McFly released their debut single Five Colours In Her Hair, and in that time the band have achieved two number one albums and seven number one singles including ‘Obviously’, ‘Baby’s Coming Back / Transylvania’, ‘All About You’ / ‘You’ve Got A Friend’, ‘Please, Please’ / ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and ‘I’ll Be OK’.
Frontman Tom Fletcher has made chart history having written more number one hits than U2, Queen and Robbie Williams – all before the age of 21 – with other band members including Danny Jones on lead vocals and guitar, Dougie Poynter on vocals and bass guitar, and Harry Judd on drums. The foursome’s popularity has also been recognised via numerous awards including a Brit Award for Best Pop Act.
Commenting on the newly-announced Forestry Commission gigs, McFly’s Danny Jones said: ‘We loved playing to a sold-out crowd at Thetford Forest last summer, so we are delighted to include three more forest gigs in our summer plans for 2009.’
