Bill Wyman gig in Cheltenham
Former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman and his band The Rhythm Kings will be playing a live concert at Cheltenham Town Hall this autumn.
As part of an extensive national tour sweeping the UK from Aberdeen to Truro, Bill Wyman and The Rhythm Kings will be playing a Gloucestershire gig at Cheltenham Town Hall on Sunday 22 November.
Rolling Stones fans will know that the 73-year-old bassist left the band in 1993 and following a few years break he formed The Rhythm Kings as a less commercial opportunity to play live music with musicians he admired.
The Rhythm Kings released the debut album Struttin’ Our Stuff in 1997, followed by Anyway The Wind Blows a year later, and then Groovin’. Next was _Double Bill, which featured the late George Harrison on slide guitar, before Just For A Thrill followed in 2004.
With a changing line-up described by Wyman himself as ‘fluid’, the audience at Cheltenham Town Hall won’t be sure who will be taking to the stage with the famous bassist, but Mark Knopfler, Albert Lee, Eric Clapton, Peter Frampton, Chris Rea, Andy Fairweather Low, Gary Brooker, Dave Hartley, Mike Sanchez and Chris Stainton are just some of the names that have performed with The Rhythm Kings before now.
And while the line-up may change, the passion for live performances remains a constant at Bill Wyman and The Rhythm Kings gigs, with blues fans from across Gloucestershire making their way to Cheltenham Town Hall to catch the acclaimed bassist and band perform.
