Music in the Park
Headlined by ska legends The Beat, the one-day Music in the Park festival at Gloucester Park looks set to be a highlight for live music lovers across the city.
Music in the Park, the free all-day music festival held at Gloucester Park, returns to the city with headline acts The Beat promising to get the crowds going.
The legendary ska band will be celebrating the 30 year anniversary of its debut album I Just Can't Stop It, and will be giving Gloucester audiences a performance as lively and vivacious as it was in 1980.
Taking place on Saturday 24 July 2010, from 2pm until 10.30pm, the line-up at Music in the Park 2010 will also include quirky rockers Flipron, blues harmonica star Paul Lamb and the Kingsnakes, dub heavyweights Black Canvas, street dancers Portlan, indie newcomer Rufio Summers and spoof hip hop act DJ Freddy Fridge Magnet and Drunken Uncle Bungle.
Opening the show will be the Choir Factor, an up to 40-strong contemporary choir made up of local singers, whose renditions include pop and rock classics as well as current tunes. And what’s more, the event also features a second stage curated by Young Gloucestershire which aims to showcase the region’s finest young bands and DJs.
So whatever the genre, music lovers of all persuasions are guaranteed a fun day out at Gloucester Park – with a barbecue, beer tent, food and drink, stalls, funfair and urban beach all adding to the atmosphere.
