Houdini Dax at Cafe Rene
Cardiff psychedelic rockers Houdini Dax are set to bring down the house at Cafe Rene, with Swift Manouver also on the bill making this a night of live music to remember.
Described as Cardiff’s bulgingly exciting up-and-coming sensation, born from the mucky coitus of psychedelic Beatles, The Kinks and Arctic Monkeys, Houdini Dax will be stopping off at our very own Cafe Rene in Gloucester once again this Friday 10 September 2010 – for a night of acclaimed live music.
Including Jack Butler on guitar and vocals, David Newington on drums and backing vocals and Owen Richards on bass and backing vocals, the boys have already made their stamp thanks to a BBC Live recording session, plenty of radio airplay, forcible eviction from a stage and a recording contract with Cardiff-based See Monkey Do Monkey Recordings.
Houdini Dax are planning an LP release in the summer of 2010, not too mention a full European tour – and all at the age of 18.
For those new to the band, influences include everything from The Beatles and Dolly Parton to David Bowie, The Zombies and Steely Dan. During the Gloucester gig audiences are promised fine-dined indie rock with feel-good, head-bobby and catchy, clear lyrics, pompously embracing sixties pop.
Also on the bill is indie reggae band Swift Manouver, hot on the heels of their Music in the Park gig earlier in the summer. The band is signed to Match Factory Records, with their first EP David and Goliath available now.
