Antonio Forcione at Gloucester Guildhall
Hailed as the Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar, Antonio Forcione and his Acoustic Quartet promise to wow audiences during a return Gloucester Guildhall gig.
As if being dubbed the ‘Jimi Hendrix of the acoustic guitar’ wasn’t enough, Antonio Forcione has a staggering 16 albums under his belt and has shared the stage with an array of accomplished musicians – including opening for Phil Collins and Jools Holland.
And now he, and his Acoustic Quartet, will be returning to Gloucester Guildhall for a live gig on Saturday 15 October 2011.
Born in Italy, Antonio is said to have first attracted public attention at 13 when he toured with his own band as a guitarist, mandolinist and drummer. He went on to study music in Rome before moving to London in 1983 in search of greater inspiration.
After two months of busking on the streets of Covent Garden, Antonio scooped an award for his talents and made a BBC television appearance, before being whisked off to open for pop group Barclay James Harvest in a major European tour – culminating in a concert at Wembley Arena.
Having never looked back, Antonio has performed at festivals and theatres in all four corners of the world – with his forthcoming county gig set to be a particular coup for Gloucester Guildhall once again.
