Plan B at Westonbirt Arboretum

Plan B will be taking Westonbirt Arboretum’s outdoor stage by storm in the summer of 2012, playing the Forestry Commission venue as part of an anticipated tour.

Following on from its successful series of 2011 concerts, the Forestry Commission has announced its first in a new line-up of 2012 gigs at Westonbirt Arboretum – with urban superstar Plan B set to play the Cotswold attraction’s outdoor stage on Saturday 23 June 2012.

Singer-songwriter, rapper, actor and film director Plan B is said to have come to prominence following the release of his 2006 acclaimed hip hop album Who Need Actions When You Got Words.

His subsequent album, the soul-influenced The Defamation of Strickland Banks is described as taking the listener on a journey of a man who finds success hard to handle, and hits rock bottom. Released in 2010, the album went on to become the fifth biggest seller of the year, and enjoyed a continued chart presence through to 2011.

While a soon-to-be-released third studio album, The Ballad of Belmarsh, sees Plan B return to his hip hop roots.

At the Westonbirt Arboretum gig fans will be hoping to hear singles including ‘She Said’, ‘Stay Too Long’, Prayin’’ and ‘The Recluse’ from the Brit Award-winning artist.

Commenting on his forthcoming gig, Plan B commented: ‘It’s going to be a real adventure taking the Plan B show into the woods. I’m really up for this and hope to see you there’.

As well as being a successful musician, Plan B is also known for his work on the silver screen as an accomplished actor – appearing in Noel Clarke’s 2008 film Adulthood, before starring alongside Michael Caine in the 2009 flick Harry Brown.
