Cheltenham Town Hall will be the setting for a rather unusual form of comedy on Saturday 5 May 2012, when parody band Amateur Transplants’ frontman, Adam Kay, is set to unleash his Smutty Songs upon the audience.
With a string of sell-out tours and Edinburgh Festival Fringes under his belt, as well as a nod from Stephen Fry, who said about the show: ‘this made me very, very happy,’ it seems that there may be more to Kay’s smutty songs than meets the eye.
He is set to shock, amuse, but most of all entertain the Cheltenham audience when he takes to the grand piano with his trusty glass of wine, and plays his unique take on pop songs from well-loved artists from Lady Gaga to Leonard Cohen.
Organisers say that Kay’s cutting-edge and darkly humourous re-imaginings of pop and rock classics have gained him a cult following across the UK, with his songs reaching more than 20 million hits on YouTube and entering the iTunes comedy top ten consistently since 2008.
It is suitable for over 16s, but probably not your elderly aunt!
