Hoping to draw in the crowds at Gloucester’s much-loved Café Rene on Wednesday 27 February, will be a live performance from Bristol-based band TR Clemmett, returning to the stage with its unique combination of gypsy folk and urban street music with honest and vivid lyrics.
Led by Terry Clemmett on guitar and vocals, with Adam Newton on double bass and Randall Phillips on drums, the band has an interesting history beginning with Terry’s first gig on stage at HMP Brixton prison.
Organisers said: ‘TR’s music is his own personal triumph. Against all the odds he changed his life around, from being caught up in drugs and crime in Bermondsey South London.
‘Now drug free for eight years, forming and running Bristol’s first ever radio recovery show at BCFM community radio, and playing music at various charity events across the UK, TR’s music has reached people in many countries.’
And while the band is currently in the process of recording its debut album, Gloucester gig-goers can look forward to hearing tracks from the well-received Bombay Baba EP, said to be filled with songs that paint pictures with word imagery and portraits of tainted lives lived on the underbelly of society, brought to life in stark comic and tragic fashion.
