Gloucester City Council’s first ever Park:Live Festival is set to take over Gloucester Park on Saturday 21 July 2012, boasting a line-up that will delight all festival fanatics not wanting to spend the equivalent of a summer holiday on seeing their favourite bands.
Headlining the free of charge Park:Live event will be US indie favourites We Are Scientists, which first saw success in 2005 with their gold-selling debut album With Love and Squalor, and catchy numbers which include ‘Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt’ and ‘It’s a Hit’.
Since then, the band has built up quite the cult following through two further albums of ‘spiky angular pop’, according to organisers, and toured some of the biggest venues and festivals worldwide.
Next on the bumper line-up will be Reading three-piece The Good Natured, whose dark electronic pop has been catching the attention of broadsheets and bloggers alike since forming in 2008.
Festival-goers can look forward to dancing the day away to hotly-tipped female pop artist Portia Conn, the self-dubbed ‘post rad’ Dive Bella Dive, who is said to fuse pop sensibilities with dirty bass riffs, chants and big choruses, as well as the sultry tones of Lexy.
Organisers have of course not forgotten about the host of local talent we have across the county, and will also be showcasing the likes of ‘stadium-ready’ Harbour, recently-signed Young Kato, the blues ’n’ roll sounds of Hot Feet, plus a little acoustic, emo powerpop from Funky Horse Milk.
So if you fancy all the fun and frolics of a big-name festival without the heart-stopping price tag, round up all your friends and head on down to Gloucester Park this summer for what’s expected to be an exciting new highlight on the county’s live music calendar.
