Hear some of Wales’ youngest opera stars, the Welsh National Opera Singing Club, when they perform The Face in the Mirror live at Gloucester Guildhall.

Opera fans in Gloucester will have the chance to see some of Wales’ youngest and brightest stars on Saturday 30 June 2012, when the Welsh National Opera Singing Club performs The Face in the Mirror live at the Guildhall.

With the popularity of opera on the increase thanks to ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent showcasing the likes of Only Boys Aloud, the Welsh National Opera’s Singing Club, which is made up of 50 children aged between 10 and 14, is hoping to draw in quite the crowd at the popular Gloucester venue.

The Face in the Mirror is said to be a moving introduction for older children and young adults to the issues of World War II and its effect on communities.

Organisers said: ‘Mikela and Cody are fed up. Mikela hasn’t been invited to a cool party with her friends, and Cody is sick of having a moody older sister – he just wants to play war games without her sticking her nose in!

‘They stumble upon number 28, a house up their street that was once occupied by a sad old lady, Margery Allen, but has since burnt down. What they find in the blackened ruins is a secret from World War II which will change their lives forever…’

Whether you’re an operatic expert or just looking for your first taste of the art form, Gloucester Guildhall guarantees not only a spectacular performance from these youngsters but also a cultural experience for all.
