Cheltenham Town Hall will be welcoming Manchester’s premiere symphony orchestra, The Hallé, back to the stage on Friday 7 March 2014, following its unforgettable finale to the 2012-13 Concert Series.
Promising a true musical treat, the concert will be conducted by Andrew Manze, who, having established his credentials as an early music specialist, has rapidly emerged as one of the most stimulating and inspirational conductors of his generation.
Manze will be joined by Swiss pianist Francesco Piemontesi, a former BBC Young Artist who won the title of Best Newcomer at the 2012 BBC Music Magazine Awards.
He promises to wow the Cheltenham audience with his rendition of Mozart’s ‘Piano Concerto No. 21 K.467’, whose dreamlike second movement featured in Swedish film Elvira Madigan.
Add to that Beethoven’s famous overture ‘Leonore No. 3’, Vaughan Williams’ lovely ‘Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis’ and Sibelius’ ‘most remarkable compositional achievement’, ‘Symphony No. 7’ and you’ve got the makings of another exceptional evening with one of the UK’s top symphonic ensembles.
Tickets for the 2013-2014 Cheltenham Concert Series are available to buy now, with a 20 per cent discount for series ticket holders. Further information is available on SoGlos’s special offers page.
