Rock’n’roll fans will be celebrating the life and music of Elvis Presley with one of Europe’s most successful tribute acts, Lee Memphis King, when he arrives at Tewkesbury’s Roses Theatre on Saturday 29 September 2012 – promising a journey through the King’s heyday of the 50s right up to the unforgettable Vegas years.
Lee Memphis King’s brand new two-part show will open with the hip-shaking early years and songs including ‘Blue Suede Shoes’ and ‘Hound Dog’, followed by the black leather-clad ’68 comeback special, including the famous ‘sit down’ and a rendition of ‘If I Can Dream’, that’s been hailed as ‘incredible’ by critics.
While the second half is entirely dedicated to the Vegas years, with Lee Memphis King set to perform a definitive repertoire of the King’s Las Vegas, US and Canadian tours that feature in films Elvis – That’s the Way It Is, Elvis on Tour and Aloha from Hawaii.
The ‘world champion Elvis Tribute Artist’ specialises in recreating the essence of everybody’s favourite pelvis-grinding, jumpsuit-wearing icon, and organisers praised the singer, saying: ‘Lee Memphis King brings the majesty of Elvis’ voice, and the electrifying power of his performance to life and accompanied by his world class band and backing singers, this performance will breathe the life back into the music of a legend.
They added: ‘He leaves audiences in no doubt that they are witnessing the world’s number one Elvis tribute. Pure entertainment and Pure Presley.’
