Gloucester city centre pub Café Rene is hoping to draw in crowds of music fans on Friday 23 November 2012, when local jazz funk band Gotcha performs an anticipated live set.
Described as ‘an eclectic mix of musicians that have been drawn towards each other by a gravitational flux formed by a mutual disaffection with the norm’ by organisers, the eight-piece band, hailing from Stroud, is said to share an inherent mistrust for anything that smacks of convention.
With a repertoire filled with instrumental covers and original tunes spanning everything from jazz, blues and soul, to ska, Motown and rock, Gotcha promises an energetic and memorable evening that Gloucester gig-goers will be talking about for days after.
The band said: ‘We give an enormous amount of diligence and respect when choosing music for our set list.
‘Once a pearl has achieved selection, it is then polished and honed to a sparkling perfection through a process of reckless disregard for convention, all to ensure we achieve our version of a musical nirvana.’
