One half of the legendary Scottish duo Gallagher and Lyle, Benny Gallagher that is, will be treating an audience at Bishops Cleeve Tithe Barn to a special concert on Friday 23 November 2012.
The second in a six-part autumn Cleeve Concert series not only promises the intimacy of a low-key gig in the splendour of a historic barn, but also some stripped back classics from the 70s star.
Organisers say he remains one of the best performers on the circuit today, more than 40 years after starting out as a composer in 1970, when he and Lyle propelled rockers McGuinness Flint to the top of the charts with hit records ‘When I’m Dean and Gone’ and ‘Malt and Barley Blues’.
This prompted the duo to launch their own career as musicians in their own right, leading to a string of successful singles – including the richly romantic ‘Heart on my Sleeve’ and ‘I Wanna Stay with You’ – with the title track from album Breakaway impressing Art Garfunkel so much so that he covered it on his platinum-selling album of the same name.
Whether you’re an avid fan of Gallagher and Lyle wanting to take a trip down memory lane, or a local looking for a concert with a twist, tickets to the event are selling fast, so don’t delay in booking yours today.
