Spanning stylish bars, award-winning breweries, lively pubs and local cafés, SoGlos has found 14 free live music nights to dance your way to in Gloucestershire.

Local music lovers, singers and gig-goers searching for great entertainment in Gloucestershire are spoilt for choice, with the county a hive of musical activity.

Aside from its fantastic programme of music festivals and ongoing events, SoGlos has found 14 live music nights which can be enjoyed without a pricey admission fee.

Whether you prefer boogying to blues, jiving to jazz or rocking the night away, put on your dancing shoes for a night of free live music entertainment in Gloucestershire.

Nestled in the heart of Gloucester, Café Rene is a long-established pub and live music venue, which plays hosts to a variety of music events featuring an ever-impressive line-up of talented acts, in addition to regular DJ and dance events in the cellar bar.

Aside from its premium craft beers, Gloucester Brewery draws in crowds thanks to its popular live music events, which take place on the second Friday and last Saturday of each month, with an eclectic programme ranging from blues and soul, to dance and acoustic.


3. Stroud Brewery


A brewery, music venue, and bar, Stroud Brewery offers an ideal destination to relax with a beer in hand and enjoy some live entertainment, with its acoustic music nights taking place weekly, covering a range of genres to appeal to all tastes.

Located just outside of Cheltenham’s town centre, The Somerset Arms is a hive of activity with regular events and live music nights – not to mention its comprehensive range of real ales and ciders which are sure to go down a treat. Whether you’re hoping for some rock and roll or want to dance the night away to retro hits, the venue plays host to a variety of performers, in addition to a jam session every other Sunday evening, open to all.

A bustling café in the heart of Tewkesbury, Theoc House is not only favoured for its delicious food and welcoming setting, but its Jazz Club, which offers regular live music events. Taking place twice every month, music fans can expect plenty of talented acts, with a great value set menu as a delicious extra.

An industrial-chic bar located in Gloucester Docks, Tank entices drinkers with its quality craft beers and stylish setting. Meanwhile, its weekly live music nights offer even more incentive to visit and provide a pleasant backdrop for an evening out.


7. The Cotswold Inn


The Cotswold Inn in Cheltenham boasts a brilliant atmosphere and lively line-up of events, which includes open mic nights, karaoke, and weekend gigs. Sure to provide a great night’s entertainment, the live music nights feature everything from acoustic guitars to indie songs.


8. The Vaults


A popular underground haunt in Cirencester, The Vaults boasts a loyal following thanks to its regular live music gigs, with its band nights shining the light on talented local artists and attracting a wide variety of audiences, while singers can also showcase their skills at the weekly open mic nights.

Promising real ale, real food and real entertainment, The Crown and Sceptre in Stroud is a music haven, hosting two music festivals a year, in addition to weekly music nights on Fridays. Featuring performers from Gloucestershire and beyond, expect everything from country, jazz and rock, to blues and soul.

Offering a stylish setting in the centre of Cheltenham, The Strand is home to regular live music nights which get the party going, with local favourites such as The Ukeholics and The Bridge having played the venue, to the delight of music fans and revellers.


13. The Prince Albert


Sharing the best of Stroud’s ales, art and music, The Prince Albert remains close to the heart of the local community, drawing in sports, comedy and music fans. While some of its events incur a charge, live music taking place on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays is free, offering great entertainment and a lively atmosphere.


14. The Malthouse


A bistro-style restaurant near Stroud, The Malthouse Bar and Kitchen not only offers tasty, home-cooked dishes, unique cocktails, and decadent Freakshakes, but also plays host to monthly special event nights, which along with DJ sets and cocktail nights, feature live music entertainment.
