Written shortly before Claudio Monteverdi's death, L'incoronazione di Poppea promises an enthralling opera experience at Longborough Festival Opera in July.

Offering an enchanting summer’s evening in the Cotswolds, opera and music fans can head to Longborough Festival Opera to enjoy striking opera, L'incoronazione di Poppea.

Set to be performed on selected dates from Saturday 28 July to Thursday 2 August 2018, the opera tells the story of Poppea who as mistress of the emperor, seeks the crown. Encouraged by ambition and love, Poppea tries to persuade the emperor to set his wife aside, despite warnings of the empress’ revenge.

Widely thought to be Monteverdi’s finest achievement, L'incoronazione di Poppea is a remarkable opera which explores real-life emotions, as well as themes of love, lust, and morality.

What’s more, the opera is Longborough Festival Opera’s Young Artist production for the 2018 season, part of its programme to provide world-class performance opportunities to singers and players at the beginning of their careers.

Conducted by Jeremy Silver and directed by Jenny Miller, don’t miss the chance to see the compelling opera, and the final show in Longborough’s highly anticipated 2018 summer programme.
