The Wave in Bristol is reopening in August

Bristol’s inland surfing lagoon, The Wave, is reopening in August 2020 after being closed for three months due to the Coronavirus lockdown.

Gloucestershire surfers will be riding high with the news that The Wave in nearby Bristol is reopening on Saturday 1 August 2020.

The inland surfing lagoon has been closed since Friday 3 April 2020 due to the Coronavirus lockdown in the UK, but will soon be welcoming surfers and spectators back.

A number of safety measures have been introduced, including making pre-booking essential for all visitors, whether they’re surfing or not, and introducing a £2 charge for non-surfers.

A new socially distanced queuing system will be in place at the check-in area and a one-way system will be in operation in the clubhouse. Surfers may also have a 15-minute walk from the check-in area to the surfing lake, as shuttle buses will not be operating regularly for the time being.

Group sizes for beginner lessons will be reduced to five people per surf coach. Wetsuits and surfboards will still be available, but visitors are encouraged to use their own gear, if they have it.

The Wave Bristol is scheduled to be open from 7am to 9pm daily, for those heading down the M5 to catch a wave.
