Went along to Rise Helicopters on Saturday for the £20 ride. It was excellent and couldn't believe how cheap it was!...

The Place nightclub opening in Cheltenham

Cheltenham’s newest nightclub, The Place, threw open its doors to county clubbers at an official launch party on 30 April 2008, presided over by none other than 90s TV presenter Pat Sharp.

With Pat Sharp presiding over the party, fun was to be had at newly opened The Place nightclub in Cheltenham.

While Pat Sharp might not have been the most obvious choice of guest DJ for a swish nightclub launch, Cheltenham clubbers at the town’s newest nightclub, The Place, didn’t seem to be complaining as they shimmied away on the dancefloor to the Fun House theme tune.

His twin game show co-hosts, Martina and Melanie Grant, were nowhere to be seen on Wednesday night at the former home of Moda, and the infamous mullet was also a no show too – with Pat replacing the hair cut for a style more fitting for a man approaching his 50s.

Despite the nostalgic trip back to the 90s courtesy of Pat Sharp’s antics behind the wheels of steel, The Place is bang up-to-date in every other respect – with a state of the art sound and light system, and newly-spruced décor for example.

With a series of new nights, including Glamourpuss on Mondays; The Deal on Wednesdays; Vibe on Thursdays; Refresh on Fridays; and The Place To Be on Saturdays, as well a 5am extended opening on weekends, we’re sure, even without the added attraction of ‘star’ guests, The Place will be pulling in the clubbing crowds for many a night to come in Cheltenham.

See The Place to find out more about the new Cheltenham nightclub, or call (01242) 570583.
