Miss Gloucester 2008 at Liquid

30 May – Miss Gloucester 2008 will be chosen from beautiful applicants from across the city in a final being held at Liquid nightclub on Friday 30 May. And you can see the action live.

The current Miss Gloucester, 21-year-old Dani Turner from Longlevens, is organising the contest to find her 2008 successor, and set out on a mission to find Gloucester girls aged 17 to 24 to takeover her reign.

Miss Gloucester has traditionally taken part in the City’s Carnival Procession, as well as other civic events, but was stopped in the 1980s when it was thought of as politically incorrect.

Contests in recent years have taken place online as part of the national Miss England competition, but this year the final will take place locally – at Liquid Diva Nightclub on Friday 30 May.

Entrants will be short listed and a text vote will narrow the field to five, who will go forward to the final in front of a panel of local celebrity judges.

The winner, as well as going forward to the Miss England semi-finals which are being held at Champneys Springs health resort in Leicestershire, will get the opportunity of taking part in the annual Carnival Procession and Christmas lights switch-on in Gloucester as well as a variety of prizes.

Dani said: ‘I’ve had a great year as Miss Gloucester and I wanted to make sure I could hand my title over to someone. By organising a local final, we can make sure as many people as possible are involved.’
