Crackers, the popular Gloucester nightclub and live music venue, will no longer be open to members of the public it was announced this week.

Posting on Crackers’ official MySpace page on Thursday 2 July 2009, Crackers owner Steve Pyart wrote:

‘Over 23 years the venue has welcomed clubbers and music lovers alike, no matter what the genre you were sure to find something interesting happening with us.

‘An end of an era, but we look on to what the future brings,’ Pyart added.

Dubbed ‘Gloucester’s alternative venue’, the news has saddened regular attendees of Crackers’ regular metal and trance nights, who have posted notes of sympathy and disappointment on Crackers’ MySpace page.
