Cheese Rolling 2008 photo gallery
Thousands of spectators braved the cold, wet and wind to witness the Cheese Rolling 2008 action. The SoGlos.com team joined them, armed with waterproofs, a hot flask of coffee and a camera of course.
As early as 9am on Monday 26 May 2008, Cooper’s Hill near Gloucester was quickly filling up with loyal spectators having travelled from across the county, across the UK and indeed across the world – with some having made the trip from Finland, Australia and Brazil – trying to nab the best spot from which to see this year’s cheese rolling action.
Those who did manage to secure a good vantage point weren’t disappointed, as fearless competitors followed tradition and threw themselves down the steep hill after a 8lb Double Gloucester cheese. While the speed at which the cheese rollers tumbled made catching them on camera them hard enough, the miserable weather only made things harder still – but we still managed to muster up enough shots for a gallery of highlights from this year’s festivities…
