The chance to see legendary band Blondie perform at Westonbirt Arboretum was a highlight for Gloucestershire fans this summer.

Westonbirt Arboretum’s diverse capacity crowd spanned the ages at its anticipated Blondie concert this summer, from the cool kids decked out in mohawks and CBGB t-shirts to the even cooler grandparents swinging their silver locks around to the Saga-generation’s unlikely poster girl Debbie Harry.

Singing along to hits spanning crowd favourites ‘Picture This’, ‘Sunday Girl’, ‘Hanging On The Telephone’ and the anthem ‘Heart Of Glass’, the Forest Tours 2010 audience participated with energetic enthusiasm along with each of Blondie’s numbers – with kindly cheers of support shown to Blondie’s lesser known new material.

Picnickers had enjoyed the evening sunshine while listening to support from Oxfordshire duo Little Fish before waiting patiently for the big Blondie bonanza to begin, and as the sun set the show didn’t disappoint the die-hard fans or flocks of families out for an alternative evening’s entertainment.

And despite the queues of post-concert cars crawling home to Sunday beds gone midnight, it certainly wasn’t the lack of sleep that the SoGlos.com team were talking about on Monday, but rather the relaxed atmosphere, thankfully dry skies and supreme performance put in by a legendary band old enough to be rocking out with our own grandparents.
