Cotswolds restaurants for Valentine’s Day
Venue: Lords of the Manor Hotel

On the menu: The Tetbury hotel’s specially-prepared Valentine’s tasting menu includes four-courses spanning pink champagne and scallops; starters such as whole prawns with vermouth; a middle course option of smoked halibut and salmon or rabbit, duck liver, pork and prune terrine; with main courses including highlights such as slow roast shoulder of lamb with mint and caper sauce with kale. There’s a pre-dessert of lemon posset with shortbread; while dessert highlights include Cambridgeshire burnt cream with spice biscuits or dipping fruits and marshmallows with chocolate pots to share.

Gloucester restaurants for Valentine’s Day
Venue: The Wharf House Restaurant
On the menu: The Wharf House will be giving lovers a lavish six-course menu to feast on this Valentine’s – available for both lunch or dinner. Starting with a glass of prosecco or a Kir Royal cocktail with canapés, the menu includes scallops with coconut, lemongrass and chilli or duck with fresh orange and caramelised walnuts to start; venison with a redcurrant sauce and a hint of dark chocolate or a duo of red pepper shortcrust tarts with celeriac and wild mushroom for the main course; followed by desserts of rocket and raspberry jelly and meringue filled with vanilla cream and fruits to complete the evening. There’s also a mid-course sorbet, as well as coffee, tea and petits fours to look forward to.

On the menu: A special three-course Valentine’s menu, plus an amuse bouche, sorbet and coffee course, will be available – with choice starters including the giant prawn and crab ravioli with tomato concasse, or the warming roasted butternut squash soup. Main course favourites are the parcel of salmon, plaice, scallops and prawns with white wine and coriander, of the fillet steak stuffed with blue cheese wrapped in parma ham. While the trio of desserts on offer are the black forest gateaux, selection of cheese and biscuits or Eton mess.
