If you are looking for a way to impress a date on Valentine’s Day 2010 a candle-lit dinner for two in one of Gloucestershire’s best restaurants is hard to beat.

On the menu: The Valentine’s discovery menu to share includes an hors d`oeuvres platter for couples to tuck into before the tomato consommé with basil ravioli; main courses include Cotswold chateaubriand with red wine jus, bérnaise sauce, roasted vegetables or whole lobster thermidor with parmesan gratin, garlic fine beans, gratin dauphinoise; topped off with a delightful assiette of Daffodil puddings.

On the menu: The Spice Lodge in Cheltenham will be the destination of choice for fiery couples, kicking off with a glass of Kir Royale, followed by mixed starters and main courses including murgh masala, nali gosht, jalbaja sea bass and Thai-inspired pad khing. Desserts include home made Indian delight, with chocolates and a rose for the ladies.

Gloucester restaurants for Valentine’s Day
The restaurant: The Wharf House
On the menu: The Wharf House will be giving lovers a lavish six-course menu to feast on this Valentine’s Day. Starting with a glass of prosecco or a Kir Royal cocktail, the menu includes scallops with coconut, lemongrass and chilli, or duck with fresh orange and caramelised walnuts to start; lobster in a creamy red pepper and coriander sauce, or venison with a redcurrant sauce and a hint of dark chocolate for the main course; followed by poached pear and passion fruit ice cream, or frozen dark chocolate delice and cinnamon ice cream to complete the evening.

On the menu: The Dewinton Restaurant at Hatherley Manor Hotel will be hosting a four-course candlelit dinner on Valentine’s Day. Options are likely to include white onion and red bean soup, deep fried tempura prawns or plum tomato and artichoke heart stack with feta cheese to start; roast prime rib eye of beef with a wild mushroom, maize-fed chicken with cream cheese, or tenderloin of Old Spot pork with an apple wine cream sauce for mains; followed by ‘Gentle Embrace’, a white chocolate and cherry brandy tart, or ‘Lovers Delight’ four sweets to share.
