Tetbury Food and Drink Festival
Tetbury Food and Drink Festival is back in 2011, with a feast of culinary events being held in the heart of the Cotswolds.
In 2011, for the fifth year in a row, Tetbury will be holding a feast of a Food and Drink Festival, with organisers promising the event will be the Cotswold town’s biggest yet.
From bakeries, cheese- and honey-makers, vineyards and farms to smokehouses and mills, restaurants and pubs – a whole host of local businesses will be coming together to celebrate the very best food and drink that the area has to offer.
Taking place from Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 September 2011, SoGlos.com’s hand-picked highlights from this year’s Tetbury Food and Drink Festival include:
On Wednesday 21 September 2011, the annual Gloucestershire Old Spot Sausage Appreciation Society Dinner traditionally kicks off the annual Festival and is a treat for sausage lovers at The Close Hotel.
Woefuldane Dairy is hosting an Organic Dairy Cheese Experience Day on Friday 23 September 2011, where participants will help make a commercial batch of fresh cheese and two batches to take home, as well as tucking into a bread and cheese lunch. The day costs £95, for more information call 07966 088225 directly.
On Saturday 24 September 2011, Rob Rees will be hosting a Ladies Lunch complete with a cookery demonstration, two-course lunch and bubbles at the Cotswold Chef Food Centre. The lunch costs £27, for more information call (01285) 656813 directly.
There will also be competitions galore, including the special Tetbury Pie Competition and judging of the Tetbury Taters Competition, taking place at the mini Cotswold Oktoberfest being held at The Priory Inn on Saturday 24 September 2011.
Plus, the Farmers Style Market on Sunday 25 September 2011 will see more than 40 foodie stalls being set up in the centre of town, selling an array of tasty produce – including the DIY Tetbury Produce Stall, where visitors are encouraged to bring along their homemade produce to sell.
The final day of the Tetbury Food and Drink Festival will also see Morris dancing and a brass band entertaining the crowds, as well as demonstrations from chefs, writers and bakers including Xanthe Clay, Tom Herbert and more in the town centre.
With the full list of fantastic gastronomic events still to be finalised at the time of writing, visit tetburyfooddrinkfestival.com for all the very latest news.
