Spice Lodge in British Curry Awards
News – Cheltenham restaurant Spice Lodge was highly commended at the British Curry Awards 2009, selected as one of the best amongst more than 2,700 spice restaurants in the UK.
While Cheltenham’s pan Asian restaurant Spice Lodge missed out on scooping first prize at the British Curry Awards 2009, it was highly commended alongside just two other restaurants in the south west of England – and was the only Gloucestershire restaurant to be shortlisted.
Recognised as the Oscars of Britain’s £3.5 billion spice restaurant industry, according to organisers, the award ceremony held on Tuesday 3 November 2009 was hosted by Sir Trevor McDonald and saw Bath restaurant Rajpoot dubbed the best in the south west – with eight other regional winners being announced on the night.
This year’s British Curry Awards were chosen from a record 40,000 public nominations covering more than 2,700 restaurants.
