Cheltenham diners and fans of Indian cuisine across the county are in for a tantalising – and healthier – treat, as brand new restaurant Masala Bites Thali and Tiffin Kitchen opens on the town’s Albion Street today.

Described by owners as a brand new concept specially designed for Cheltenham, Masala Bites promises guests a combination of fine dining and a relaxed cafe-style experience – with the town centre venue having been decked out accordingly.

Devised to provide a simple and healthy dining experience, the concept of thali (which means plate in Hindi) will be at the heart of Masala Bites’ ethos – with a typical meal consisting of numerous dishes to create a balance meal.

The restaurant’s founders are keen to point out that ghee, artificial flavourings and unhealthy cooking oils will have no place at Masala Bites, with vegetables being sourced daily from markets in the local area.

Whether dining in or ordering food to go, highlights from the varied and intriguing menu include special thalis such as lemony lamb with mint and coriander, or the Maldives tuna fish curry – as well as a selection of regular thalis, grill thalis, light bites and masala, korma and jalfrezi favourites.

Masala Bites also plans to introduce a tiffin service – delivering fresh lunches to Indian food-lovers across Cheltenham and beyond.

Launched by the same management behind Cheltenham’s successful Indian Brasserie, Thai Brasserie, India Lounge and Indian Voojan Restaurant, grab a bite to eat at the town’s newest haunt for a novel dining experience to remember.
