Picnic season has arrived at Cowley Manor near Cheltenham.

Yes, it’s finally time to pack away the Arctic coats and woolly hats, and whip out those short sleeved shirts and maxi dresses. Okay, a tad ambitious perhaps, but there’s no denying the British weather is on the up – with the last couple of glorious weeks of sunshine taking us all by surprise.

And with the better weather comes a host of British events and traditions, not least the quintessential picnic season which has just been launched at the trendy Cowley Manor hotel on the outskirts of Cheltenham.

Regular readers will remember SoGlos.com’s 2010 Cowley Manor picnic review, with the 2011 season expected to be more popular than ever as Gloucestershire residents and visitors take advantage of the chance to enjoy fine foods in an intimate, tranquil Cotswold setting.

Picnic-lovers will be escorted to a special area of Cowley Manor’s grounds with a basket packed full of delights including homemade corned beef, smoked chicken, honey roast ham and scotch egg, accompaniments including chutney and piccalilli, baguettes, plus a tomato and basil salad and minted bean salad.

Not forgetting cupcakes, seasonal berries and cream, plus a selection of local cheeses, with a key-locked chest of chilled tipples also available at your own picnicking corner of the estate.

What’s more, new for 2011, Cowley Manor is also offering a Picnic and Pamper package which includes two 60-minute treatments and full use of the facilities at the award-winning C Side Spa – in addition to a picnic for two people – making for a luxurious day out to remember.

The Classic Cowley Picnic costs £45 for two people, excluding drinks, with the Picnic and Pamper package costing £170 for two people.
