Speech House Pudding resurrected on ITV1
News – Yvette Farrell from Harts Barn Cookery School will be revealing how to make a Speech House Pudding during her demonstration on ITV1’s Countrywise Kitchen.
A centuries old recipe for Speech House Pudding will be resurrected on the ITV1 television channel, when Yvette Farrell from Harts Barn Cookery School shows the nation how to cook the traditional dish on Countrywise Kitchen this Monday 25 July 2011 at 8pm.
The producers of Countrywise Kitchen are reported to have stayed at The Speech House Hotel during a recent visit to Gloucestershire, and chose the new Harts Barn Cookery School near Longhope as the ideal venue to show regional cooking in the Forest of Dean.
Owner Yvette, who has a passion for local ingredients and recipes, wanted to demonstrate something unique to the area and thought the Speech House Pudding would fit the bill perfectly.
The pudding was served to Charles II when he stayed at The Speech House, which was then his hunting lodge. It is also said to be a favourite of the Verderers, an ancient order still in existence today that were responsible for the upkeep of the forest and maintaining local laws.
If you’d like to find out what’s in the Speech House Pudding, the recipe can be downloaded from hartsbarncookeryschool.co.uk and is also available at The Speech House Hotel. For more information about the cookery school see Harts Barn Cookery School, and don’t miss Yvette on the small screen this month.
