Koloshi opens in Cheltenham
News – Cheltenham has a brand new addition to its fine dining scene, as Indian restaurant and bar Koloshi opens its doors in Charlton Kings.
SoGlos.com is delighted to reveal that there’s a brand spanking new fine dining venue in town, as Indian restaurant and bar Koloshi has opened its doors in Charlton Kings – headed up by top chef Azad Hussain.
Koloshi, meaning water carrying vessel in Hindi, aims to provide a dining experience like no other in Cheltenham or the Cotswolds. Forget korma drowning in sauce or the standard tikka masala, organisers say, and instead expect refined and well-balanced flavours taking you on a gastronomic journey across India.
‘I want guests to experience the subtlety of flavour and balance so often overpowered in most British curry houses. Dining at Koloshi will a completely different experience to what the British usually expected of Indian cuisine. I let the flavours and ingredients speak for themselves,’ said Azad.
The venue, the former setting of The Reservoir Inn on the London Road, has undergone extensive renovations to create a calm, classic backdrop for fantastic food.
The 70-cover restaurant is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner, and the bar will be serving an array of drinks and cocktails with a special bar taster menu available during the day and early evening. Special occasions and celebrations have not been forgotten, as there is also provision for private dining.
Azad’s passion for authentic, modern Indian food and his insistence on using only top quality ingredients is said to be what really sets him apart from his peers. Azad travels back to India and its subcontinent every year to research authentic flavours and hone his cooking skills and palate. His previous restaurant reached the top four in the British Curry Awards 2010 and he was runner up in the most coveted category of British Culinary Chef of the Year this year.
