The Showcase at Cheltenham Racecourse
Go behind the scenes at Cheltenham Racecourse and see new season favourites in action, at The Showcase 2011.
Horseracing fans across the country will be chomping at the bit in anticipation of The Showcase at Cheltenham Racecourse this Friday 14 and Saturday 15 October 2011, the first fixture in a brand new season which will see leading jockeys and trainers return to jump racing’s most famous arena.
The Showcase will feature seven highly competitive races each day, while visitors will also be given the unique chance to see, hear about and participate in some of the aspects of racing which are normally off-limits.
Cheltenham Racecourse’s weighing room and parade ring will be open to members of the public before racing, and there will also be chances to win once-in-a-lifetime racing experiences such as the opportunity to present a trophy, watch a race from the commentary box or see the jockeys weigh-in after a race.
During last year’s The Showcase, Midnight Chase started on his remarkable run of three successive Cheltenham handicap chase victories, while Chicago Grey won before returning to provide an emotional first Festival victory for trainer Gordon Elliot in March 2011. And all of the first four winners on the Saturday were, in fact, in action at The Festival five months later, demonstrating the quality of racing to be found at The Showcase.
The Showcase coincides with another world-famous event in the form of Cheltenham Literature Festival, meaning all the more reason to visit the town, while there will be a Brightwells Bloodstock Horses in Training Sale on the Friday after the racing, and pony rides for children on the Saturday.
With great value ticket prices and the chance to get a rare behind-the-scenes look into Cheltenham Racecourse, don’t miss the popular autumn sporting event. Visit cheltenham.co.uk for full information and tickets.
